It’s time for another edition of Stylist Spotlight! This week we turn our attention to a woman who’s been here since the beginning, Charlotte Smith. Overall, Charlotte has been working as a stylist for 35 years, with the last 28 of them coming at LaSienne.
“It has been awesome for me,” she said. “35 years later and I still have never had any regrets.”
She completed her professional training at Redel Institute of Beauty and then worked in their salon, Superhair, for the first eight years of her career. However, her favorite training since then would seemingly have nothing to do with hair. Charlotte says the one she most enjoyed was a high ropes weekend, which was a team building activity.
“There was no way to accomplish it without your whole team,” she said. “It taught me a lot about how much I rely on other people around me and appreciate them so much.”
Charlotte said that team at LaSienne is hands down her favorite part of the job, along with the wonderful clients she has met.
“I love the ability to make beauty and happiness in someone’s day,” Charlotte said.
When Charlotte isn’t working at the salon, she enjoys playing sports, mainly tennis and golf. She loves reading a great book, cooking, going out to dinner with a friend and spending time with people she loves. When she wants to relax she likes taking a nature walk or seeing a great movie. “I love an afternoon nap,” she said.
Her favorite thing about living in Jefferson City is the people and the support the city has shown.
Charlotte said that she likes to think of herself as an all-around, well-balanced hair stylist, but she prefers to work with fine hair. “Probably only because I have fine hair and so I’m more familiar with it,” she said.
Finally her favorite stylist tip is to get your hands on some Aveda Custom Control.
“If you don’t use it, you must. It’s a girl’s best friend!”
